I've grown to like Lippman's C++ Primer, too. (Need to specify the author's
name here, since there at least THREE "C++ Primer" titled books on the
shelves.) There are a couple of things that get mentioned only in passing, so
you need to be a little careful at times. Otherwise, though, I like it, too
(and it's a lot less expensive than the ARM).
