But you know, Intel is Intel. And the current base of PC users are using Intel CPUs based PCs. And certainly, the market don't wake up a morning and say: "hey, why not switch to PowerPC???" Moreover, although te 601 will be cheaper than the Pentium, the last one will be faster. The Alpha AXP is a more "correct" move to me. It'll give you TRUE POWER, far beyond from the Pentium. It's the correct price (in fact, in the range of Pentium systems), it'll hold all your old cards, it runs NT… I'm not saying buy AXP! But I see it with better eyes than for the Pentium (and not to talk about the Blued Multicolored projects). Moreover, the cost of the CPU is not important when comparing to the rest of the system cost (specially when talking about 3d). In my opinion, we have to do balance between price and performance, but also look to other features -i.e.software- (well, it's been this way forever <g>). I could buy a Silicon Graphics instead of Compaq Pentium… but when i ask for the price of the TDI software… (arghhhh) However, things are changing in this industry, and I think that nobody can asure what will be next. Prices going down, new technologies, new platforms and, very important to me, new OS. We are going to a new computer world, and the hardware, the base CPU, the home of your precious video cards <g>, will be the last in the list. All will depend on software (even now this is true), then, after buying the software, you will look your budget and say: "hey! what speed demon can I afford now?!" <g> Ana
