James, It may not be your imagination, though it's my understanding from msgs on the forum that this isn't the first time Polaris has made mistakes like this! I do think, though, that in response to pressures from customers and competitors, software companies sometimes scramble to release new versions. _I_ think they do this not so much to put new features in users' hands, but to reap those upgrade fees. For example, Computer Associates has an offer to sell Kiplinger's Simply Money for the cost of shipping – $6.95 – they made a big point of saying that they wanted to 'sell' 1 million copies. Now…let's say half of the 1 million people who bought it pay $40 for an upgrade – that's $20 million. Hopefully the new features are truly useful. I also think software companies have done a masterful job culturing the perception among users that unless they upgrade, they'll be left behind. I suppose to a certain extent this is true but with the many pieces of software I have that each do a unique thing, I find myself hard-pressed to use existing features let alone try to figure out new ones! Eli.
