Ed, Avoid DoubleSpace. Use Stacker 3.1 (STAC Electronics has provided the algorithms for compression on tape backup systems and other devices for years), who offer a DOS 6-only version to replace the DBLSPACE.BIN file with their own stuff, thus it's highly integrated into the operating system. Format a floppy with the DOS 6 system, and it will include their version of the .BIN file, giving you easy access if the hard disk won't boot normally. Martin is correct regarding backup (which is probably to a STAC-enhanced tape drive), although perhaps a trifle alarmist. It's a good idea regardless of whther you are using a compressed drive or no.
