I think that the accurate figure is 72 minutes. I was invited by Philips a
few months ago to see full motion video on the CD-I. The quality was
excellent. They told me that since a lot of LP records or CD audio albums
are only around 35 minutes total, they are going to market a dual-purpose
CD disk, with 36 minutes audio and 36 minutes video. The guy with the
ordinary audio CD player will get exactly the same disk as the CD-I owner.
Only different is that the Cd-I owners gets to see the group as well as
hear it. Smart move! They also said that they have a further development
under way to double the 72 minutes thus enabling most feature films to be
held on one CD disk.
