Charles: While I'll agree with you that a clock really should be part of a base system, I disagree with you about harddrives. I'm not 100% sure of my numbers, but I believe that of all Amigas sold only about 15% of them have harddrives. I'm not sure if this is a sales number from Commodore which would then not take into account 3rd party harddrives, or if that was a poll done by a 3rd party, in which case it would be more accurate. There are many people that are actually scared of Hard Drives, and don't want one in their machine. I have a friend (the person that introduced me to the Amiga) that bought an A500 when it first came out, and after few years of using the machine without a harddrive I finally convinced him to add a harddrive, and we put a Supra controller on his A500 with a Seagate ST138N drive in it. Well, my experience with that particular controller wasn't to great, but I'm a beta tester of several products, so I attributed my frequent crashes to that. But on my friends machine, with just a basic WB installed, it crashed almost weekly! Needless to say, as his first harddrive experience he wasn't thrilled, and took off the drive, and went back to floppies. Since that time, he got rid of the A500, bought an A1000 that he used only with floppies, untill he bought an A600HD about a month ago. The only reason he got one with a harddrive in it is because he bought it from me, and ALL my machines have harddrives in them. So far he's been doing OK, but then he also backs up the drive twice a day so he won't loose any data! // -Mike Schiller \X/ AMIGA! On AutoPilot in sunny Fort Lauderdale
