Richard, I seem to remember a certain machine that cost $1995 with only _one_ floppy drive, 256K RAM (expandable to 512K), and a questionable, at best, paint program. You had to pay _significantly_ more for an extremely buggy compiler and a word processing program, also buggy, as was the documentation. The machine, my '85 Amiga 1000. Frankly, anytime you are on the 'bleeding edge' you should expect to pay a price, but I have serious questions on your evaluation of the "minimum" configuration, again harkening back to my experience with another introductory machine. I do page layout here on a 2.5 MB machine feeding a laser printer, an impossibility to some. 96 MB??? Sheesh! I think you will find that this machine will enter a particular niche which will attract quality developers that are not satisfied with the current status quo on pricing. Just my two cents. Brian
