Hi Andy,
I don't recall the exact date, but it was sometime early this year when Philips
themselves announced the 100K player / 1 million disc figures. Both numbers
were for retail sales to actual customers.
They expect the sales rate to grow quickly once the FMV cartridge and Video CDs
become available. As with Photo CDs, platform-independent MPEG "Video CDs" will
also have embedded CD-I code.
