Yeah, pulling the 3000 apart to rap a drive would be a hassle. I was
thinking of it as a test, just to see if the stiction was indeed the
problem. On my #3 backup system I have a Seagate that sticks… it's on a
long cable outside the case. So if it doesn't spin up, I can pick it up
off the desk and poke the spindle with a screwdriver. 🙂 Ugly, but it
works. Anyway, sending it back to Quantum would be your best bet. That's
too big a drive to relegate to paperweight mode.
