As far as I know…. during the last year the R&D on the Amiga declined to a
trickle. What is more, many of their protective patents expire fairly soon – so
their unique technology will be fair game to all comers. Plus the fact that
they have already lost – by layioff and attrition – some of their brightest
technical people. I was visiting GVP (a few miles away from Commodore) last
week… and heard the local scuttlebut.
As soon as one lets up on R&D… you start to fall behind – especially in the
competitive world of computers.
Years ago I bought one of the first computers dedicated to video. This was the
SONY SMG. An excellent machine, and the FIRST ever to use the then new 3.5"
disk system. So I have been through this type of trauma before!
From my point of view…. I would let Commodore die, but try and sell the Amiga
technology – if it is not too late.
