Hi Peter, Since it's near July 4th, I just wanted the opportunity to remind you Brits — that we forgive you <g> Now for a response to your question: I'd divide the needs into reference books versus tutorials and I'd do it in this order as well: 1) As for a GREAT tutorial, Robert LaFore's Object Oriented Programming in MicroSoft C++ Easy, simple, pragmatic and relevant. 2) MicroSoft's C/C++ Reference Guide Volume #1 chapter 1-6 (for a good understanding of Doc/View this is a greta place to start) 3) MicroSoft Programmer's Guide C/C++ Tutorial (scan it – don't memorize — good for reinforcement of LaFore's teachings) 4) MicroSoft Programmer's Guide C/C++ Class Libarary User's Guide (Scribble example) – Yes Scribble is worth the trouble!! I think you'll like LaFore's presentation – he's very talented. Compared to the others — I have 7 books on devoted strictly to MFC 2.0/C++/Windows alone, he's really the best. The real trick (though not difficult if explained well) is going to be trying to understand how the MFC App frame work, that is the frame work — not MFC itself. First, focus on the C++, then work on the Framework and MFC. (MFC is easy, almost nothing, if you've programmed in SDK before.
