Charles, I think you'll find that many of the GIF images on the new FractalPro Image Library CDROM will be fully satisfactory for your uses. You'll have to make a statement that that's where they came from, but no royalties will be due if you use the GIFs (except for one group of 16 images which are off-limits for use without permission). But there are over 350 pics available and some really are only 256 color even in 24-bit, so the GIFs are , in some cases, fully faithful reproductions of the 24-bit ones. In some cases the original 24-bit pics are as many as 16384 colors so the GIFs are definitely not as good as the originals, but you'll find many many usable GIFs there. I want people to use them, but as I said, not for converting my 16000 color 24-bit hi-res pics to video and using them in toothpaste commercials (at least without compensation). The 24-bit pics with hi color counts will knock your socks off. So will many of the GIFs. I think you'll find the FPILV Volume 1 a quite reasonable investment in your supply of library materials.
