Tim, Amax like Emplant will run at the same speed as the underlying CPU. If you have a 25Mhz '030, the Mac side will run at the same speed, there is no tradeoff. As for memory requirements, the emulators require that ram be in a contiguous chunk, same as the Mac. So the amount of ram available to the emulation is the maximum contiguous chunk available at the time the emulation is started. You should plan on at least 8 meg of fast ram to have at least enough for a reasonable emulation. More is better, but with 8 megs to start and not a lot of ram being allocated to Amiga programs you should be able to get close to 5 or 6 meg on the emulation in a typical setup. The less ram used by the Amiga, the more will be available to the emulation. Of course you will allocate less ram to the emulation if you need to preserve ram for the Amiga side during emulation. Amax IV needs an '030 with MMU and preferably 32 bit ram, althoug it may run with 16 bit ram, I'm not sure.
