My recollection of the conversation was that the calculations were
pretty accurate. All relative of course. I checked the R2 Camera
against data for various Nikon lenses and there was very little
inconsistency. Do you recall the formula they are using? The
difference in the FOV between ACAD and 3DS renderings amount to the
difference between a 60 mm and a 70 mm lens. That is more than a
little relative. It did occur to me that the Perspective function
might be affecting our results.
Thanks for mentioning the work you did on the robotic vision system. I
just did a robotics project over Christmas (no wrest for the wricked)
that was a concept presentation. It is amazing to see how much joy a
little 500 frame flic can bring an engineer. His presentation was a
major success so I expect that I will be doing more robotics. I am
interested to know more about how you used 3DS in a Rapid Prototyping
context.
