Tom, The wait of a year is a little excessive. By the time you add the TBC(s) [necessary even for the Flyer] Audio card and software, compositing software, and HDs (Flyer requires 2) you total NLE is not that far off some of the lowend Mac/PC propducts. For example, although most agree the interface suffers from its DTP heritage, Adobe Premiere is quite the rage and it works with a variety of cards on either Mac or PC and the Power PC native version is soon to be released. DVIsion, Radius, and MediaSuite are all 'low end' products that will produce quality equivalent to what most people think is acceptable. The systems are out there, but the question is one of growth for someone entering the video area. If growth is not a concern, and they are willing ot eat the 'starting over' overhead, then an Aniga is not a bad choice. If growth is a concern, the Amiga is a poor choice. After all, many amiga developers are in the "no new products" mode – many more than I had supected for this early in the game (didn't even wait for the courts final ruling…). And for those of us with heavy investments of time and money in Amiga based suites, its a game of get what you can now to stretch the longevity of the equipment and put off the overhead of cross-over as long as possible. I think we are all secretly hoping NewTek creates a bridge to another platform that we can easily stroll across. I'm sure they have something up thier sleeve, cause if new Amiga's don't start flowing with the type of corporate name backing (not some loose association of developers) that inspires confidence, the market for NewTek will shrink rapidly. wmc – via Autopilot!
