That is an important point for us, also. The other reason for doing that is to
exclude machines that may be to slow or not have enough memory for a particular
rendering job, or to dedicate a large memory-monster to the machine which has
the most memory, even though it may not be on-line at that point in time.
Maybe build some sort of database of all machines so you could pick and choose
between them when starting your queue, even if they are not available then?
