John… Only guesses. Apparently pthalocyanine disks are much more tempremental during the writing. Variations in laser temperature can make a difference in them. I have pthalocyanine disks that were written successfully and where I can read the directory but when I attempt to open a file or program from the disk the computer locks up. A Pinnacle service tech has told me to stay with the cyanine dye disks for the RCD1000. However, that goes against what I am attempting to do. My job is to produce the most archieval disks possible and the "stated" life expectancy of cyanine disks is 20 years, pthalocyanine 100 years. ..Carl
