Jerry- I think Kathy misunderstood me slightly. It appears to be silver paint on the label side. The dye is bronze in color. As for the reason for the paint – that's my interpretation. It would be interesting to hear from someone who was involved with this stuff about the true composition. It also has ten thin concentric rings on the writable side, looking much like tiny leadout areas. Their positions seem to correspond with disc length, that is they are closer together as you move towards the ouside of the disc. I was thinking about popping one into a moder writer to see if it registered. Maybe even writing to it. But I may save them for the "CD-ROM Museum". BOB
