Katherine, Thanks for the sage words about CD-R media stability. We expect to archive some test data, and might actually need to dig some of it and take a look at it after ten or fifteen years. It sound like CD-R's will 'way outlast 9-track tape, but 8mm tape looks like it's holding up pretty well, too. No doubt the format will be ancient history in fifteen years, but at least keeping an "old" CD-ROM drive around will take up a lot less space than keeping an old 9-track tape drive <g>. John
