Charles, I did some research at Seagate and for your info, the drive you have operates by delaying thermal recalibration (which could corrupt the CD-R process) until a non-critical (non read-write) situation. The tech person could not guarantee however that it would work with all CD-R drives. This drive is about $500 cheaper than the Micropolis alternative. Microplolis AV drive have no thermal recalibration (even safer). I will likely get a similar 31230 drive and the sony 1002. How many CD's have you successfully burned with this equipment? Any glitches? Thanks in advance DON
