Yes, at the manufacturing stage, $1.35 can = $6-8.00 retail.
Britt, you sound like you have little experience in manufacturing and the
retail trades… do you have any idea what actual manufacturing costs of some
common products that you use daily are?
Would you protest if you found out?
And WHAT IF the record companies are gouging you? Don't you think they'd drop
the price in an instant if sales disinigrated?
What about software? Do you think it's wrong for me to charge $299 for my
CD-ROMs (we know that my manufacturing costs without programmers royalties are
about $3-4/unit). How about my overhead, employees, etc… ?
I can't continue this dialog until you have more knowledge of the US copyright
laws. And as I typically have to say to someone somewhere on-line once or twice
a year, the US copyright law is LAW, not opinion. It's not "I think it should
be this way…" it's the way it is, until you can convince Congress to change
