Well, the Rimage printer gives a nice-looking, almost silkscreen effect with
wax transfer technology, and I don't think it costs as much as $5K — probably
closer to $3K, but still more than paper. If you don't mind using the
"printable" media with the matte finish, CAI's bubblejet can print pretty well,
too, for close to the same price (both of which I'm not really sure about —
you can call a dealer to find real prices.)
