More likely a combination. A driver can't improve the error correction
firmware. Win95 effectively rewrote all of the drivers for the most popular
drives, rather than use the drivers supplied by the manufacturers, in order to
implement Plug&Play, CDFS and AutoPlay. I find that Win95 does too many other
weird things to my system to use it all the time.
