>> Businesses cannot make a transition of this nature overnight, and I hope that Autodesk recognizes this and could provide a little more help in being able to shift the system over a bit more smoothly. << hi Bill. i agree that making platform transitions is not something that happens overnight. many folks who currently use Adesk DOS apps will be waiting long after the NT version of 3DS ships simply because they use other DOS-based-only add-ons to 3DS. also, the 3DS NT product will not be a "release 5" of 3DS… although it will offer all sorts of new capabilities as it exploits the NT environment, it will also be lacking in several DOS-based features (we have heard for example that the EXTREMELY powerful keyscripting ability in R4 DOS version will not be available in first release of 3DS NT). transition is just that. it is ultimately up to the consumers to be smarter than any purchasing situation, and personally, i can be patient, knowing that the NT versions of Autodesk software will come along eventually and that i'll migrate to them as it becomes practical to do so for my work situations. 🙂 -dave
