#Bad Craziness/Pharlap?
Yo.
I'm using 3DS4, running on a 486 50MHz machine with 20MB RAM and 130MB local
disk space free. I'm booting of a floppy with the absolute bare minimum that
can be in there in order to allow my machine to know it's a computer, and not,
say, a cuisinart.
I create a sphere (say). lovely. No, no, let's say I loft the three rocket
files that come with the program. I rotate the appropriate bits, chuck a light
in, give it some ground to stand on. Looking good. Then, after a while, my
lofted objects start to fall to pieces – as if some of the vertices have
suddenly been moved. Anyone struck this?
I suspect it _may_ have something to do with texture mapping, as it only seems
to happen to objects with a texture (like, a bitmap) mapped onto them. Whatever
it is, reoading from the disks don't seem to fix it <sigh>
I'm afraid I'm a novice here people, so speak in a low voice so as not to
frighten me, and let's set a syllable upper limit of 3 on any words used. That
should stretch some of you.
Also, (this is only mildly annoying) whenever I exit the program, I get a
System Halt – could not load command error, which forces me to reboot. No biggy
– I suspect the PharLapp Dos extender in truth.
TIA
Laurie
