>> I don't know if this is a Win95 problems or just the way I have things set, but I have the 490 build and there are STILL some major problems going on with Animator. << honest, Daryl, i don't know if this is a Win95 problem either. we're dealing with _two_ new products here and 490 build isn't exactly bug-free either. <g> >> The ones I have found so far are the inability to open a *.bmp file. It says that the format is not supported. Also, it locks up when I try to save the *.avi file. Get to the 100% compression part and then just freezes…when I try to launch the *.avi file after I end task it tells me the file is corrupt. Sure, with the 490 build I can launch Animator…but it's totally useless to me unless I can save… << since we do have a number of people who are capable of running the program under 490, i would suspect there might be something specific to your configuration (or theirs) which hasn't caused these problems. a reminder again though, that AStudio was written for Windows 3.1. that some have managed to get it working on 490 was coincidence… not planned, on this release. >> Regarding a Win95 patch…when is that supposed to be out? Do you have a beta of this, because as it stands without a patch the program ishard drive garbage to me and I'm not about to wait until who knows when to recieve an update. << when i attended the MMedia Developer's Conference a few weeks ago, the Win95 and NT patch upgrade was predicted for around September. i don't have a beta of this, but will make information on it available as soon as i can. >> To note…EVERY other graphics and editing program I've tried (ie. CorelDraw, Photoshop, pagemaker, Sound Forge…etc) works great…why is your program having so many problems? << <gg> sorry, Daryl. i use CorelDraw too… works great, after about 5 or 6 patches. give me a break. release 2 had several patches, release 3 had several patches, release 4 had _major_ patches (remember the printing speed nightmare??) i won't get into the patches that have come out for the others you mentioned. suffice it to say, this is release 1.0 of AStudio, a product specificaly designed for Windows 3.1. all products go through an evolution as specific problems are cited. complaining that AStudio is garbage because it doesn't handle Win95 or NT is like complaining it doesn't handle on Solaris, Warp or MacOS… it wasn't written for them. Autodesk has commited itself to working on a future version for NT and Win95, and when it becomes available, you may wish to re-evaluate it. i haven't been recommending AStudio to anyone with NT or Win95 yet as both OS's are so new themselves and AStudio wasn't written for either. Should be a safer bet all around, soon. -dave
