PVR problems
Peter,
Looking over some literature I have on the PVR, it seems that it is
designed to work with a DAT or Exabyte tape backup. It also says that
"PVR kernel level drivers enable hard drives attached to the
Perception board to appear as standard system drive letters". Are you
saying that you cannot access PVR hard drives from DOS, or Windows,
or other file managers? Now you've got me curious. I have a system
due to be shipped tomorrow or the next day, and was planning to use a
writable CD ROM for backups. If I cannot access the data using
something like laplink or XTree, it may be a little more complicated
than I thought. Maybe the software that comes with the CD handles
all this?
As for as the little glitches you were speaking of. Mine appears to
have a "jittering" problem when larger animations are played through
it. These only appear on certain frames and not throughout the entire
animation. Murph has been in touch with the folks at Digital every
day, and they promised a 2 day fix. Of course that was 4 days ago.
<G> Anyway, they are aware of the problem and assure us that they are
very close to writing the code to fix this problem. I have no doubt
that they will.
I would be very interested in any information you turn up about the hard drive
situation.
Thanks, Terry
