Sounds like a fun trip. 🙂 Or maybe there will be a software improvement
that prevents those sorts of situations. After all, under WinNT, it's easier
to have more than one process sitting on those remote machines, as a sort of
watchdog.
If nothing else, it would be an interesting way to network render with a friend
or cooperative site. Transferring large scenes would take a while, of course,
but it would work.
The first example they give of this is to connect to Microsoft's ftp site via
LAN Manager. Then you can use File Manager to browse their site. As
convenient as your average Web browser or GUI ftp, but more well-integrated and
tested, I suppose. 🙂
