I quote a Mac Sysop: >At boot time, if there's a Syquest cartridge attached to the Mac, it will read the driver from that cartridge (and use that driver for any subsequently mounted cartridges). My guess is that the Macs that will mount the cartridge were booted with a cartridge containing a driver, so they have one loaded. It's also possible that some but not all of the Macs have a control panel that contains a driver for Syquests and will automatically mount anything put into the drive. Since you don't know what utility you used to try to format the Syquest on the Mac, I can't speculate much as to why the format didn't take. About all that I can say is that in my experience formatters are sometimes a bit flakey; it's safest to reboot with INITs off before trying to reformat any drive. Probably your intuition (put a driver on the Syquest) is the best idea. I haven't had any Syquests for a long time and so can't say what would be most reliable these days.<<
