Kevin,
Be careful with the MPEG-2 format. If you plan to do any editing of the MPEG
files you may be in for a suprise. Due to the fact that MPEG does not compress
every frame, as in JPEG, you cannot do cuts just anywhere. MPEG achieves it's
high compression rates by keeping track of the changes from frame to frame,
thus each frame does not contain complete information. I have just aquired the
PVR and the resulting video is awsome. Even at lower compression settings,
artifacts are almost impossable to see. The PVR is also compatible with
Premiere to make editing a breeze. (So to speak) In addition to doing special
effects, titles etc with Premiere, you can elect to make a QT or AVI version of
the Video for computer distribution. (not something you can easily do with an
MPEG format).
Just thought I'd let you know my experience.
Cheers,
Tom
