Oh heck… it's Saturday night, I can look up and see a great nebula right above my head… I haven't been here much lately so I thought… what the heck… let me take a stab at it… (yeah Greg, I know… just move it to Take 5 :> ) First, "evolution" doesn't, in itself, imply "better". It simply states a change of state. It means, in its most rudimentary form, the change from a simple to a complex state. Atoms combining and forming more and more complex molecules until amino acids broke apart and started creating politicians (I have this theory some one was in a hurry and stopped by to take a leak in the primordial soup so instead of nirvana we have politicians and IBM executives). I guess I know what I'm talking about though I doubt it's relevant. I was working (under contract) for IBM back in 87 writing device drivers for OS/2 version 1.0. Since then I thought OS/2 was a great "foundation" for an operating system. But…. two minor problems. First, Microsoft got away from it and with it, it took away 140 million customers. Second, and worse of all… IBM was in charge. That was the death of OS/2. Or at least, the day it got doomed to a slow and painful death. The quality of OS/2 today is irrelevant. As a product, it is a runaway winner. Over 6 million (at last count) copies sold. As an operating system, however, it counts for less than 3% of the market share (just a fraction of those 6 million are actually used on a day to day basis). Do you really think someone will actually consider OS/2? (unless, of course you get bought by IBM and have no option). The best thing that could happen for OS/2 is to get given away to some smaller and aggressive company to market it using 1990's methods and not 1890's… By the way, on a totally different note (like this above makes any sense any way), I had a very good friend named Carlos de Nobrega. Your name reminds me of him and good memories comes back with it. Um bom dia! gus… it's late.. I know…
