Phillipe, The price of a true workstation includes so much stuff above and beyond what is in a normal PC that the actual cost of the processor component has an amazingly small part to play. If you really want to break it down, the cost of real workstations is most closely related to memory chip prices. We're talking 64 – 256M RAM plus massive static RAM caches operating at zero wait state speeds (unlike most PC RAM caches) plus video RAM in the 16 – 48M range, plus some rather interesting specialty memory. (not to mention disk caching.)
