Olden times
Ah, yes. I remember when I was considered a computer guru. I had a Polymorphics
88 (aka Micro-Altair 'til MITS threatened to sue) that I built form a kit. Of
course, being a software type, I built it wrong. I too was coaxing my system to
work, and it would … for a while. Seems there's these things called "cold
solder joints". sigh.
Never had to clean connectors on my S100 system, but did a LOT of that on my
first Atari 800. Thank goodness a company I was working at appropriated it and
later bought me a new one. Guess Atari by then had heard too many complaints
about their tin connections and replaced them with gold. Haven't cleaned
connectors in yaers and the thing works great. – gary – (remembering the
