Jeff, I'd consider Dumas' works to be evidence for the argument that art doesn't arise out of collaboration. Harlequin Romances, like the swashbuckling tales of Dumas Pere, are written to formula. I certainly wouldn't dispute the assertion that writing a Harlequin Romance is "99 percent perspiration and 1 percent inspiration."
