Tom, Andy Warhol may not have considered his works 'art', but lots of others did. I might consider my works 'art', but probably no one else would. Does that make any difference in this discussion? The discussion is not (to me anyway) a discussion of what is art…but rather it is a discussion of whether going from concept to reality requires trial and error. Whether we are talking about low trial and error with a great artist or high trial and error with Thomas Edison…the point I'm trying to make is that trial and error IS required, there is nothing that is 100% inspiration.
