Emacs
MicroEmacs (any of the variations) is a very big set of sources. Most people
don't upload only the executable as most people prefer to make use of the
sources as well as the executable (actually, I think the authors prefer the
source code to be distributed with the executable). Thus the reason that it
probably isn't here yet. I think I have an archive around here of the
executable to MG2a plus a couple of docs.
MG offers a much friendlier Amiga interface than MicroEmacs -including mouse
and menu support. It also has a nice file browser for searching directories
for the file to load. I would say that most people used to the Amiga could
make direct use of MG with reading the documents (I haven't yet). I don't
think that MG has much in the way of scripting, but I haven't sat down to look
at it yet. I've made use of MG under AmigaOS, VAX/VMS, and SysV Unix. I've
made use of MicroEmacs 3.x under AmigaOS (a little – didn't like the
interface), Vax/VMS, SysV Unix, and Sun Unix (heavily). Truly a portable pair
of programs!
