Tom, Are you trying to say that God spoke to Chaucer and inspired him to write the Canterbury tales? Our so called God Given talents vary from person to person. If Edison's talents were in the idea and implementation fields and Chaucer's were in the 'artistic' fields…is either any less than the other? If what Edison did was so easy…why didn't someone do it before? Electricity was known long before Edison's day. From hindsight…the making of an electric light bulb was a relatively easy task….just try lots of materials until something workable was found. From Edison's viewpoint…it may in fact have been that easy, but obviously from other viewpoints (Edison's comtemporaries and those before him) it apparently wasn't that easy since no one bothered to try it. You place 'artists' on too high a pedestal. They were people just like you and I with talents different than mine (and I suspect yours). They were not gods or even god like…just plain old folks who directed their energies in directions that have provided future generations with various forms of pleasure. Don
