Mark,
A number of years ago the college started buying computers for research
faculty. I opted for a Mac SE because the Mac is easier to use and has better
software than what was then available for 386s. This was about the time that
Windows 1.0 came out, so the choice between the Mac and a PC was easy to make.
I also recommended that other faculty get Macs as well, because I knew they
would learn how to use them quicker.
Over the past several years I have amassed a lot of Mac software as
well as work which was done with Mac software. When I asked for a faster
machine, they said they didn't have the money. So I moved one of my Amigas
into the office and took the SE home for my wife to use. That's why I'm on a
Mac. Although I know it may be touchy to admit to it, but I use the Amiga as a
Mac more than as an Amiga. Better and more software than for the Amiga as well
as easier connectivity to the "real" world.
