Hook it up, instant one-way Internet news feed, continuous 9600 baud. It's much easier to convince someone to give you Internet access through their existing Internet-connected computer if you convince them you won't be sitting on the modem receiving news or reading news. In other words, you can ask for a "post only" account, so you can pass mail through their system for the odd private e-mail you might receive. All your news comes through the dish.
