I think I was quite correct. The 500's expansion slot is difficult to access, and supplies virtually no power whatsoever. Chaining peripherals is very tricky both power-wise and timing wise. (Each and every thing hung onto that slot really needs it's own power supply and buffering…) The 1000, on the other hand, has a much more accessable expansion slot, with ample power for several peripherals and some buffering already available. And there are a couple of card cages for several slots already available for it. The only thing the 1000 can't have is the upcoming chip replacements. In any case, the best overall solution is to get the 2000, but price becomes an important factor there… Oh well. –>Steve Bennett
