#MIDI
Remembering that Pro MIDI is extensible through add-on modules, the
standard package has no provisions for music notation output. You can use
DMCS as a module under Pro MIDI and import DMCS scores into Pro MIDI, but
it is a delicate operation at best; going the other way is nigh onto
impossible.
Both Pro MIDI and KCS are worthy programs, and will well repay you for the
time required to learn them. Of the two, I think (this is pure ungrounded
opinion here, folks) that Pro MIDI is potentially more powerful. If used
with the proper interface (such as Fast Tracker), it is easier to use than
KCS… but you give up some of the power for the simplicity. In their
out-of-the-box configurations, I'd say KCS is probably a bit easier to
learn. Keep in mind, though, that BOTH packages are going to take a bit of
study and practice on your part.
