Matt, here are a couple of other info tidbits that might contribute to the
discussion:
There's a company called Control Systems, 2675 Patton Rd., St. Paul, MN,
which produces something called ARTIST REALVISION 24. This is a real-time
controller that can combine high-res graphics with a rendering of 16
million colors. It has a double-buffering system that enables you to
digitize in one buffer while displaying the other, and the controller
supports both NTSC and PAL, and has a fully-integrated video genlock. The
screen resolution's supposed to be 1024×482 in hardware.
In terms of animation, SCULPT ANIMATE 4D is supposed to be the hot item,
as one of the Amiga's most successful ray-tracing programs; it makes use of
all CPU/math coprocessor upgrades (68010/20/30). CALIGARI is another
high-end 3-D animation program, used by Isauro Del La Rosa, amongst others.
Then there's R&DL Productions, who makes something called LIGHTBOX, a
professional cell-animator.
