You can get a very reasonable vi-like editor with Manx Aztec c – Its name is
"z". The Manx environment looks very much like Unix, but it is not Unix. If
you can find a compatible source, you might try Minix, which is a public domain
Unix clone originally intended for the IBM pc. Failing that, you will probably
have to wait for C= to get their Unix Ami out; supposed to be this fall from
what I hear.
