Jack,
This is probably a machine that was built for some specific
vertical-market purpose by an OEM, using DEC components. Possibly an
industrial process control system, or something of that sort.
Most likely, the CPU is a PDP-11, though it might also be a VAX. It is
most probably not a PC. If you can identify any of the components it would
help. Are the circuit boards modular, with purple handles? What are the
numbers stamped on the handles (should start with an M, typically)?
There is a PDP-11 Forum (GO PDP11) and a VAX Forum (GO VAXFORUM) but
let's see if we can figure out what it is.
Of course getting it to do something useful may be, um, a challenge. 🙂
