John, The Rainbow is covered in the DEC PC Forum (GO DECPC). The PDP-11 cannot have a DOS partition; it doesn't run DOS (well… it actually *does* run DOS, but it's a different DOS than the one you're thinking of. One of the original PDP-11 operating systems was called DOS-11, but it has no relationship to MS-DOS). It's pretty-much fair to say that the PDP-11 is not under active development by DEC any more, though they still sell a lot of 'em each year (enough to make a Fortune 500 company all by itself). DEC's PC integration software, formerly called PCSA and now called LANworks, is not supported on the PDP-11, nor is it supported on the Rainbow. It is supported on IBM-compatible PCs, Macintoshes, and Digital's VAX computers (which are sort of the PDP-11's "big brothers"). What operating system is your PDP-11 running? The machine supports, or has supported, about a dozen different ones from various vendors over the past 20 years, with three major ones still supported by Digital (RT-11, RSX, and RSTS/E) and some variants on one of those (RSX-11M, RSX-11M-Plus, and MicroRSX). -Bill
