John,
Try popping up a list requestor in AV or a programmable file
requestor. AV is a great tool for presentation work, but it isn't a good
tool for application development. A better tool for the latter is either a
programming language or an application such as CanDo. CanDo and AV are not
competing products, but fill differing needs. The former for application
and program development, the latter for developing presentation work,
videos, etc. Each has a very useful place, but are not mutually exclusive
products. Their are things which are easier and better done with a
programming language, and things easier and better done with AV. If you
need a program which involves heavy math processing or data processing,
then AV is not the best choice (nor is CanDo, for that matter) and a good
programming language is ideal. We should realize that their are different
needs for which different products are best suited. A programming language
is a necessity, for that to which it is best suited.
