Star XB-2410
Michael –
You don't need to find a printer driver for the XB2410, there are two
drives in WB1.3 that already work well with this printer. The EpsonQ
driver will work and the NEC_Pinwriter will also work. The entire Star
line of printers are pretty much Espson clones and will work with those
drivers. The XB2410 also can emulate the NEC and I find that driver to
work just a little better than the EspsonQ. The NEC will go to the maximun
density (#7) of 360×360, while the EspsonQ drive only goes to density #4 of
180 x 180 (I think, could be alittle higher – but not as high as the NEC).
I have been using the XB2410 for almost a year now and find it to be a
excellent printer. I publish a newsletter using ProPage and this printer,
the NEC_Pinwriter driver and the 360×360 density really makes for a print
out that compares with the laser printers.
The XB2410 has some excellent paper handling features and a good selection
of built in fonts, as well as many other nice features – including the
optional color upgrade! (Both drivers will work in the color mode also)
I'm right now having a sale on my Star Printers and have the XB2410 priced
at $450 – the color upgrade is $47 dollars. If you would like some sample
print outs from this printer, send me your address via E-mail, and I'll
send you a few things.
