Don't be so harsh on RS employees. A decade ago their emphasis was on parts, and then you could find salespeople who were really hardware hackers. But that was a long time ago. Except for the occassional hobbyist salesperson, I doubt you'd find sales types at any general stereo/computer/phone store these days who'd know what even "TTL" meant. Of course, YOU could go work there, and raise the RS smart level, eh? Ah, but then you'd be paid less than a Burger King employee, most likely. I don't know why customers expect so much from simple sales types. My local Amiga dealer wouldn't know a blitter from a hole in the ground, but that wouldn't stop me from buying from them.
