#Bernoulli Q's
I just got a new Bernoulli Transportable for my system. As I was setting
it up, I thought of a few questions that maybe someone here can help me
with. It seems that many people are buying these drives recently. Maybe
these questions have occurred to others too. If it matters, I have a 2000
with a G-Force 030 accelerator/SCSI.
1) The disk light on the main box (which is connected to the GVP card)
flashes at about 1.5 Hz, which it didn't do before. Is this just checking
for a cartridge change in the Bernoulli? Neither the Bernoulli or my main
system hard disk access lights flash with it.
2) Should I do both low-level format and a bad block check for reliability
reasons on the cartridges before using them? I tried one with only
writing out the RDB, and it seemed to work fine.
3) Is it true that the cartridges should have only 1 partition? What
problems would be caused if I have more than 1?
4) Does it matter what I name the partitions? Should they be the same for
all cartridges?
5) If I boot the system without a cartridge in the Bernoulli, the system
doesn't recognize when I insert one. I have to reboot for it to be seen.
Once I boot with one in the drive, changes are detected just fine. Is
this normal? Is there a way around this?
6) Are there any cautions or "gotcha's" to look out for?
