Well, considering the Commodore-64's nickname was (among other things) the
"Commie 64", they'd be right at home.
I would like to argue with their choice of countries, as the P.I. isn't all
that politically stable, but they might have gotten some incentives that I
am unaware of. I'm sure that with the U.S. thinking hard about dumping
both Subic Bay and the other base because of the massive volcano damage (as
well as popular sentiment, P.I. greed, etc.) the P.I. is looking for
foreign investors.
Still, Commodore had a nice quarter (considering Apple LOST money, IBM was
down over 90%, Atari had to sell a plant just to make some change, etc.)
and a nice year.
